Sydney Metro City and Southwest (Sydney Metro) will deliver 30 kms of metro rail between Chatswood and Bankstown, including a new crossing beneath Sydney Harbour, new railway stations in the lower North Shore and CBD, and the upgrade and conversion of the current line between Sydenham and Bankstown Stations.


Central Station, one of the most important elements of the Sydney Metro, is a highly complex brownfield project situated in an operational live environment. The project involves multi modal transport integration with Suburban and InterCity rail services, bus, coach and light rail, providing a transport hub which additionally accommodates and supports major special events.

Key Outcomes

The scope of works for Central Station includes construction of cut and cover metro station box with a depth of approximately 25 metres located beneath existing platforms 13-15, a refurbished Northern Station Entrance, and a new Eastern Station entrance with a 19m wide pedestrian connection mined under the operational suburban platforms.
